Speech-Language Pathologist

Teacher of the Deaf

About WCC

WCC is both a school setting and a clinic, where collaboration and effective communication are key to the success of the team and student outcomes. As an OPTION Center of Excellence, WCC strives for high-quality, intensive services to promote and support the return of students to their mainstream school system. Our center offers continued support for alumni students after school, as well as, for families just beginning the hearing journey through our teleintervention program. You’ll join our current team of six SLPs and five Teachers of the Deaf/DHH Specialists that are highly supportive of one another, flexible and positive problem-solvers. We offer professional development opportunities and LSLS mentoring to applicants in pursuit of their LSL AVT/AVEd certification. The full-time position is 35 hours per week, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Ideally, the part-time hours are 25 hours per week, but negotiable. We operate on a traditional school schedule through June 12, 2020, plus a three-week summer school program in July. The salary is competitive and commensurate with your experience. Speech Language Pathologist

Weingarten Children’s Center has a full or part-time position immediately available for a Speech-Language Pathologist whose expertise is in working with young children, Birth through Kindergarten, and who also has experience with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, using a Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) approach. (LSLS Certification is a plus.) The qualified candidate has experience with Early Intervention, including providing parent coaching within the therapy sessions. Knowledge of hearing loss, amplification equipment and working with interdisciplinary teams to include an audiologist, occupational therapist, teachers of the deaf, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists and a social worker, strongly preferred. Experience with preparing IFSPs and/or IEPs, including solid assessment and report-writing skills, required.

Teacher of the Deaf

Weingarten Children’s Center has a full or part-time position immediately available for a Teacher of the Deaf whose expertise is in working with young children (Birth through Kindergarten) learning to listen and use spoken language. WCC has classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, pre-kindergarteners and Kindergarteners. The qualified teacher candidate has experience working with an interdisciplinary team to support children who use a variety of hearing devices, including cochlear implants and FMs. The interdisciplinary team at WCC includes an audiologist, occupational therapist, teachers of the deaf, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists and a social worker. Experience with preparing IFSPs and/or IEPs, including solid assessment and report-writing skills, required.
