Our Mission: Transform lives of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, teaching them to listen, speak and learn through:
· proven spoken language and cognitive development curriculum
· family-centered education
· innovative technology
Founded in 1967, the Jean Weingarten Peninsula Oral School for the Deaf (now the Weingarten Children's Center) was started by parents passionate about giving their children with hearing loss a place to learn to listen and speak. It was the first school in the Bay Area of it’s kind.
Today, Weingarten Children’s Center (WCC) also serves typically hearing children who experience communication challenges and benefit from WCC’s specialized classrooms, cognitive teaching methods, exceptional speech and language services, music enrichment and parent education programs.
As a center of excellence, WCC will continue to attract families seeking that unique and high quality educational experience for their child who is deaf or hard of hearing and will serve as a place where parents feel well supported. As we deepen our relationships into the local community, we hope to help many more children, with and without hearing loss, who need our expanding clinical services.
